Place your Avständ base on the floor where you wish to
set up your system. Please remember that the center pivot point
must be at least 12 ", for a standard size Avständ and
12 3/4 " for the optional wide rack Avständ, from any
wall or vertical surface to enable the rack to rotate unobstructed.
The base is hollow so it may be filled with sand or lead shot.
Remove the brown plastic cap located in the top of the base. This
will improve stability and also help deaden sound
transfer from the floor.
Set the rack on the base and fasten it down at the pivot point
using the bolt supplied. This bolt need only be lightly tightened.
Rotate the rack to check for clearance.
Use the Allen key supplied to adjust the shelves to fit your
components. If you
have used the minimum measurements asked for in Step 1 the top
will have to be removed to rotate the rack. If you wish to leave
the top in place and rotate your rack you will have to reposition
your base accordingly.
Set the top in place by lining up the wood pin mounted in the
top wit the hole in the top plate of the rack. The top will be
held in place by the 4 Velcro tabs.
Use the Velcro strips on the back of each shelf to neatly hold
your wires in place. Note: When reaching the maximum weight capacity, of the
Avständ (350 lbs), grip the unit on the lower half to rotate
it. This will avoid any undue stress that may occur when trying
to rotate the unit from the top.
If you are installing the basic Avständ (no side panels), this is your last step, otherwise continue to step 6.
The side
panels are the last component to attach. There is one left
and one right panel. The rounded edges are to face forward. Set
the panel in place by lining up the front edge of the panel with
the front vertical rail on your rack. Have the top of the panel
touch the bottom side of the top. You can now swing the bottom
of the panel in place keeping the front of the panel and the vertical
rail lined up. Press the 4 corners of the panel firmly to the
rack so the Velcro will grip tightly.
