Required Tools:

  • Electric drill with 1/2" drill
  • Tape measure
  • Level (optional)
  • Tip or screw driver for #8 Robertson screw
  • Tip or screw driver for #6 Robertson screw (required if installing Carriage lock option)
  • Combination square
  1. The openings, be it a cabinet or custom wall enclosure, that the Avträk is to be installed in, must be square and level from front to back, side to side, and top to bottom. The bottom of the enclosure must be made of plywood or high grade composite board of at least 3/4" thickness.
Notice that the AC plugs and cable access holes are located to the top and side of the enclosure and not the center. This allows the outlets and access hole to be reached easily once the rack is installed.
  1. Be sure to remove the black upper track and plastic bag of screws from the tracks of the carriage assembly. Place the carriage assembly in the opening and center it side to side. If you have used the minimum rough opening size recommended in the general specification, position the tracks of the carriage assembly so they butt up against the back of the opening. If you are not using the opening measurements listed, then set the carriage and upper track back far enough to allow for a 1/2" face plate (if using one), component knobs and door thickness, (if inset doors are to be used with your installation).
  1. Without placing any weight on the carriage assembly, or extending it, drive one #8 X 1" screw, supplied, into the rear hole of each track.
  1. Being careful not to shift the tracks, extend the carriage assembly and drive another #8 X 1" screw in the front holes of each track. Test the assembly to make sure it retracts fully into your enclosure. You may now drive the remaining screws in the other two holes of each track.
  1. If you have ordered your Avträk with the optional “Keyed Carriage Lock” now is the time to install the striker plate, if not then you may skip directly to Step 7. Be sure that the Avträk carriage assembly is retracted fully into your enclosure. Use a square to transfer the front edge position of the carriage plate to the bottom of your enclosure, scribe a line 5/16" back from the front edge of the carriage on your enclosure bottom and center it side to side.
  1. Pull out the carriage assembly, there is no need to remove it from your enclosure. Place the angle striker plate supplied, on the line you just scribed. Place it so the face is on the line and the screw holes are to the back of the enclosure using the two #6 X 1/2" round head screws supplied to fasten in place.
Snap the carriage cover assembly plate back in place and push the carriage back into your enclosure. Rotating your key half a turn should lock your Avträk in place. When installed correctly, no adjustments will be necessary.
  1. Locate the black upper track that was removed from the carriage assembly earlier. Position it in the same manner as the lower carriage assembly, front to back and side to side. Use the four #8 X 5/8" screws supplied to secure the track in place.

  1. Fully extend the carriage assembly. Place the Avträk on the carriage and center it until you hear or feel the lower pivot pin ‘click’ into place.
  1. Slowly push the carriage and Avträk back into the opening. Line up the two parts of the upper track, slide them together and push the Avträk fully back. The upper track should not come apart when pulling the Avträk out of the opening. To separate the upper track at a later time simply extend the rack fully and press down on the black plastic tab visible in the upper track. Push the center portion of the upper track back and the track will separate.
  1. You are now ready to pre-set your shelves and slide your components into place.
  1. To adjust the shelves, use the Allen key supplied to loosen and tighten the shelf locking bolts. Use a measuring tape or level to position your shelf exactly where you want. When you have your components in place and find that you wish to ‘fine tune’ the shelf adjustment, DO NOT loosen all four bolts at the same time, instead, loosen only two at a time. This will keep your component from suddenly dropping.
  1. Use Velcro strips on the back of each shelf to neatly hold your wires in place.

Note: When reaching the maximum weight capacity, of the Avträk, grip the unit on the lower half to rotate. This will avoid putting any undue stress on the top of the unit when rotating.

Warning: If installing the Avträk in a free standing cabinet, the cabinet must be secured to the wall or be heavy enough so as not to topple over when the fully loaded Avträk is pulled out.
